Bus Stop
On the northwest corner of 135th Street and Broadway, in Harlem,
there is a restaurant called Bus Stop. It is a diner operated by a
Greek man, but staffed by Hispanic people. The food is good and the
place feels fresh and has plenty of windows.
However there are some problems with this place.
First, the service is sloppy. Often I sit down at a table and it is dirty.
I have to ask specifically "Can you clean the table please." Also,
sometimes there is a radio playing. This is annoying, particularly
if you are having lunch with some one and want to talk and you are
forced to hear a car commercial screaming at you. If they want
to play music, they shouldn't be so cheap, they should buy CDs of music
that they like, and play them instead of the radio.
Also, recently they increased their prices. With sloppy service and an
annoying environment, I don't think that the new prices make sense. There
are other places in the area that don't play a radio, have better service,
and charge less. But those places are more crowded, of course!
Anyway, the food is good at Bus Stop. If you don't mind the "If you don't
like it, too bad" service, then it is an OK place.
