While visiting a lab here at CCNY, I found a HP 9000/236. It is a computer from the 1980's based on the Motorola 68k chip. It has built-in GPIB and some other I/O thing. It doesn't boot. I don't yet know why. The reason why this machine is appealing is that it is a general purpose computer with a strong emphasis on lab use. Documentation would be really nice to have but that doesn't seem to be in the cards.
