Dec 26, 2009: I am trying to make a 60KHz WWVB receiver. My first attempt yesterday failed. First I make an antenna/coil out of a 5 turns of bell wire on 1m square. Then I tuned the coil to resonate at 60KHz. This required adding about 0.15 microfarads in parallel with the coil. Then I made a 60KHz tuned amplifier using a PNP transistor and an LC resonator. Viewing the output on my oscilloscope, I saw 60KHz even with the power disconnected and my signal generator turned off. Unfortunately, this was not WWVB reception because it was not modulated.
